As exciting as this first step is, the enormity of the expectations that will be placed on me is nothing short of daunting. From my first day in LACE, to my first rotation during year three, patient interaction and relationship development will be at the core of my education and drive to excel in my studies. Patient interactions and the idea of putting my career and skills in service to others are what drove me to study medicine. At VTC, receiving my white coat is not going to be just a photo-op, congratulations on matriculating. Instead it represents my reason for going to medical school and VTC’s commitment to incorporating patient experiences throughout our four years. While the responsibilities and expectations ahead of me are intimidating, I know I have the support and drive to succeed.
